It was a gorgeous day for soccer on February 25, 2013.  The Sparks boys were excited to be back on Junior Seau Field with its new turf and lack of gopher holes.  In the first half we managed to control the midfield with a nice mix of patience, control, and precision.  It became evident quickly that Chris Grow had been eating his Wheaties that day. He managed not one or two, but three goals in the first half.

The second half degraded a bit as we were against the wind and our opponents grew tired.  Jake took the brunt of a challenge from the man mountain he was guarding and unfortunately his shoulder dislocated for the second time.  Andy went up for a brave header which left him and his opponent bleeding.  Fortunately one of our onsite physician/players looked after both of them to get the bleeding to stop.  Get well soon boys.

Chris Grow was apparently not done with his scoring and added another notch to his tally to finish with FOUR goals on the day.  Well done Chris!  We were able to add a penalty after a foul in the box.  Laser sharp Suraj finished it as usual and the score was up to 5 to nil.  Unfortunately we were dinged for a penalty after a wild cross from the opponents hit Ron’s raised arm.  They finished it and the final score ended 5-1.

Nice win everybody.  Let’s bring that same energy to our game against Morava next week.
